BioFirst off, let me just say outright that I am a complete nerd. Dumbledore's man. Through and through. I love superheroes, graphic novels, and comic books, particularly Batman and Watchmen, and any other DC figure, with the exception of Superman. Superman is a tool. I also love superhero movies, such as X-Men, Watchmen, and Iron Man. I absolutely love Nolan's Batman movies, but I still enjoy Burton's take on the character as well. I'm also fairly infatuated with the universe of Batman: The Animated Series. So yes. I am a Batman freak, and proud of it!
Just in case I didn't drive home the point of my nerdiness hard enough, I also love musicals. Newsies, Rent, and the Phantom of the Opera are my favorites. I'm also an English major with a complete soft spot for Harry Potter. I grew up with the series; I can't help it. I guess you could say I have a thing for guys with a hero complex. (And also those who happen to understand Keats' theory of negative capability. <3.)
On the other hand, I also experience moments of particularly melodramatic phases of romanticism. See: my obsession with Jane Austen and Grey's Anatomy. Oh, and John Keats. And Arthurian legend. (Speaking of which, I absolutely adore the show Merlin, which I just got into, and is now developing into an obsession.) And the Bronte sisters. (Yes, I actually do adore Wuthering Heights.) Oh, and I can't forget my undying passion for Little Women, especially Jo and Laurie. (Damn you, Louisa May Alcott!) Oh, and pretty much? The Romantic poets complete me. So pretty much, I'm a walking contradiction, as my father puts it.
As I've alluded to above, I do actually enjoy reading poetry. And writing it. For fun. Yes, I'm strange. Believe me, my family will be the first to admit it. I'm the kind of girl who loves to poke around the odds and ends of a good story to try and uncover a deeper meaning for the hell of it. And no, I'm not majoring in English with the goal to teach. I actually kind of want to be a librarian (and/or Batgirl), and never actually grow up. I'm still trying to figure out how to accomplish this, at the moment.
So, yeah. That's pretty much all there is to know about me. If I haven't scared you off yet with my excessive amount of dorkish obsession, feel free to add me. My name is Alex. It's nice to meet you. :)
